Our Second Nature: Color, Sound Design, and Finishing for Sustainable Fashion
Videos Produced by Our Second Nature. Cinematography by Jack Langlois. Post-production provided by Locals Video.
We were brought on by Our Second Nature, a Singapore-based sustainable clothing brand, to provide post-production services for a series of editorial videos showcasing their seasonal collections. Over two years, we delivered post-production for six major projects—over 15 individual video assets ranging from short-form social teasers to full collection videos—transforming raw footage into evocative brand stories.
The Brand
Our Second Nature is a thoughtfully designed clothing line rooted in sustainability and mindful living. Their collections celebrate natural fabrics, timeless silhouettes, and the stories of the women who inspire them. Each season tells a narrative—whether it's reconnecting with memories through their Spring 2023 "Stories From The Estate" collection or embracing organic ease with their GOTS-certified pieces.
The brand's aesthetic is distinctive: light and natural, capturing organic movement, with careful attention to color grading that favors warm, film-like tones with subtle grain. Their videos aren't just product showcases—they're intimate glimpses into lifestyle moments, shot with a documentary sensibility that feels personal and authentic.
Our Services
We handled all post-production aspects for these projects, working from footage shot on location in Southern California. Our services included:
Editing: Crafting narrative flow, pacing scenes to match the brand's contemplative aesthetic, and selecting the most authentic, candid moments
Color Correction & Color Grading: Developing natural color grades with warm tones, bringing down highlights, and adding subtle film grain to match OSN's signature look
Sound Design: Mixing natural ambient sounds (birds chirping, wind, footsteps, coffee brewing) with carefully selected acoustic guitar tracks and royalty-free music
Multiple Format Deliveries: Creating landscape versions for YouTube and cropped portrait versions (9:16 and 4:5) for Instagram Reels and Stories
Each project involved multiple rounds of revision, working closely with the Our Second Nature team who provided detailed creative direction through comprehensive video briefs and iterative feedback.
The Creative Process
What set these projects apart was the meticulous attention to detail in every frame. Our Second Nature's video briefs were thorough documents that included moodboards, specific shot references, pose direction, styling notes, and even the emotional tone they wanted to convey.
The brand consistently referenced wanting footage that felt:
Light and carefree, never overly posed
Organic and candid, capturing genuine moments
Thoughtful and contemplative, with pensive expressions
Intimate and personal, like watching someone's home videos
Our editing approach matched this sensibility. Rather than quick cuts and high energy, we let scenes breathe. A shot of fabric flowing in the wind. A close-up of hands writing a letter. Dappled sunlight through a window. These quiet moments became the visual language of the brand.
The Collections
Spring: Home Video Nostalgia
This Super 8-style video documented a day at home—preparing coffee, reading the newspaper, sitting in the patio. The 16:9 landscape format retained the Super 8 frame, and we mixed natural sounds (birds, wind) with acoustic guitar. The challenge was making everyday moments feel cinematic without losing the raw, candid quality of a personal home movie.
Summer: Elevated Architecture
This marked a shift toward more "elevated ease"—still natural and organic, but with attention to architectural details and space. We experimented with two color grading approaches: one with film grain matching previous videos, another retaining crisp digital footage but moodier. The brand ultimately chose to maintain their signature warm, grainy aesthetic.
Summer Kids: Poolside Fun
The kids line brought higher energy—candid moments with children, poolside splashing, craft sessions. We added camcorder-style warmth and grain to evoke nostalgic family videos, mixed upbeat indie music with natural laughter and chatter, and incorporated zoom effects for that authentic home video feel. The revision process moved quickly, with tight turnarounds to meet launch dates.
Pre-Fall: ASMR Intimacy
This three-video project showcased our most experimental sound design. The teaser went almost entirely ASMR—footsteps, water pouring, subtle white noise, no music. The collection video added acoustic guitar but kept natural sounds prominent. The personality feature included voiceover from the model discussing her morning routines and what grounds her. Each video told a different story while maintaining cohesive visual and sonic aesthetics.
Spring: Stories From The Estate
This project centered on OSN's collection exploring reconnecting with the past through treasured memories, letters, and correspondence. We incorporated lifestyle moments like writing letters, looking through stamp collections, tending flowers, and mailing letters. The color grading emphasized warm tones to capture the feeling of blossoming in Spring.
Fall/Winter: Earth-Friendly Beginnings
The first project set the tone for our collaboration. This collection featured OSN's first capsule made with 100% organic GOTS-certified fibers. The brief emphasized "quiet and considered" with "light and carefree" movement. We focused on pair shots showing both models interacting naturally, incorporated nature textures (rocks, grass, shadows), and used melodic acoustic guitar that felt thoughtful rather than lo-fi.
The Collaboration
What made this partnership work was mutual respect and clear communication. The Our Second Nature team provided comprehensive creative direction, and we brought technical expertise and editorial sensibility to bring their vision to life.
The trust built over multiple projects allowed us to work more efficiently with each collection. By the final projects, we understood the OSN aesthetic instinctively—the pacing they preferred, the moments they valued, the color palette that felt right. This didn't mean less feedback, but rather more targeted notes that helped us dial in the details.
Some projects moved quickly with same-day turnarounds to meet launch deadlines. Others allowed more time for refinement. The flexibility to adjust timelines based on project needs kept the process collaborative rather than rushed.
Looking Back
Over two years and six editorial video projects, we helped Our Second Nature build a consistent visual language that distinguished their brand in the sustainable fashion space. The videos supported seasonal launches and strengthened brand identity across their social media channels.
More importantly, this body of work represents what we do best: taking raw footage and transforming it into emotionally resonant stories through thoughtful editing, meticulous sound design, and careful color work. It's the kind of collaboration where everyone involved is working toward the same creative vision.
The Our Second Nature projects remind us why we love post-production. It's not just about technical skill. It's about understanding a brand's soul and finding ways to express it visually and sonically. It's about patience through revision after revision, knowing that the details matter. It's about the quiet satisfaction when everything comes together exactly right.
Locals Video provides comprehensive post-production services including editing, color correction, sound design, and multi-format delivery for brands, agencies, and content creators. Whether you're launching a collection, documenting an event, or telling your brand's story, we bring the same attention to detail and collaborative spirit to every project.
