Hitachi Energy: Showcasing Power Consulting Excellence

When Hitachi Energy reached out in January about a corporate video project, they had a clear vision: showcase their Power Consulting division as both a strategic planning partner for energy solutions and a destination for top industry talent. What started as a straightforward production request turned into one of our most rewarding corporate projects of the year.

The Project

Hitachi Energy's Power Consulting division solves the energy industry's most complex challenges, conducting detailed technical and economic studies from early network planning through operations. They needed footage that would present them as a dynamic, forward-thinking organization driving sustainable energy solutions—and they wanted it to feel cinematic, not corporate.

The brief was detailed: five employee testimonials shot with teleprompter and multi-camera setups, extensive b-roll showing the collaborative office environment, and drone coverage of their Raleigh facility. The technical specifications were equally precise: 4K resolution, a flat color profile for maximum post-production flexibility, and a shallow depth-of-field aesthetic throughout. Most importantly, they didn't need post-production—just pristine footage delivered on a hard drive for their European agency to edit.

Production

We shot over two days in February at Hitachi Energy's Raleigh headquarters. Day one focused on the five testimonial interviews, day two on b-roll and drone coverage.

For the testimonials, we created a setup that balanced professional polish with authentic personality. Each subject stood in medium frame, speaking directly to camera via teleprompter while a second camera captured a side angle for editing flexibility. The key was using different office environments—hallways, conference areas, open workspaces—to add visual variety while maintaining the cinematic look Hitachi's European agency requested. Three-point lighting setups, shallow depth of field, and careful attention to background composition ensured each frame had depth and dimension.

The b-roll day was about capturing the human side of Power Consulting. We filmed colleagues collaborating over computer screens, conference room meetings with genuine engagement, quiet moments of focused work, and candid interactions by the coffee area. Professional stabilization kept everything smooth and steady. Close-ups of hands on keyboards, focused expressions, people walking and talking through corridors—all the visual language that communicates expertise, passion, and collaboration.

The drone coverage established context, capturing sweeping views of the facility and surrounding Raleigh landscape. These establishing shots would bookend the video, grounding the story in place while emphasizing Hitachi Energy's global reach with local presence.

The Experience

What made this project special wasn't just the technical execution—it was the people. The Hitachi Energy team was an exceptional partner throughout, handling logistics, coordinating talent, and ensuring our crew had everything we needed. The team members we filmed were professional, engaged, and genuinely passionate about their work in sustainable energy.

The feedback we received after delivery was remarkable: the production helped make the experience comfortable for their team members, the results exceeded expectations, and the European agency praised the footage quality.

Why This Matters

Corporate video production at this level is about more than just capturing footage—it's about understanding how images communicate organizational culture, expertise, and values. Hitachi Energy's Power Consulting division is helping solve the energy transition challenges facing utilities and grid operators worldwide. The footage we delivered needed to reflect both the technical sophistication of that work and the human collaboration that makes it possible.

The cinematic approach—shallow depth of field, careful composition, professional lighting, stabilized camera movement—elevates corporate video from functional documentation to compelling storytelling. It's the difference between showing people at desks and showing a team of experts advancing a sustainable energy future.

Behind the Scenes

This project required meticulous planning. We provided wardrobe guidelines, coordinated with talent schedules, and tech-scouted the office to identify the best interview locations and b-roll opportunities. The teleprompter setup allowed talent to deliver their messaging confidently while maintaining eye contact with the camera—critical for testimonials that would be cut throughout the final video.

The collaboration demonstrated what's possible when clients with clear vision partner with a production team that understands how to execute it.

The Result

The final footage was delivered via external hard drive to Hitachi Energy's European agency, who cut it into a polished four-minute video showcasing the Power Consulting team's expertise, diversity, and collaborative culture. The video lives on Hitachi Energy's social channels and corporate website, helping position Power Consulting as both a strategic partner for customers and a destination for top industry talent.

From the technical specifications to the cinematic aesthetic to the human element, every frame served the larger goal: presenting Power Consulting as leaders in advancing sustainable energy solutions. It's the kind of work that reminds us why we do what we do—helping organizations tell their stories in ways that matter.
